Hi Everybody

Another 1^st Thursday of the month is nearly upon us, which means another opportunity to get wet and muddy in the dark.

The next BAH3 run will be on Thursday 1^st March at 7pm, from Melrose. I’m not sure about the exact location, so let’s work on the basis that it’s the Abbey car park.

Venue for beers + scran afterwards TBC.

Hares are Dull Thud and Lauren (have you been named yet?).

As usual, the more the merrier, and all welcome from plodder to racing snake.

Hi All,

The next Borders Area Hash House Harriers run will be 7pm on Thursday 2nd Feb.

Start will be from the car park/public toilets (inevitably!) at Hall Street in Innerleithen.

Hare is Gordon aka Taxidermist.

On-Inn likely to be the Traquair, but TBC.

Come along an reinforce your New Year resolutions (except the one about cutting back on drinking) – a social run at whatever pace you want to take it (from walkie-talkie to ‘handy’), followed by food and a couple of beers.

Bring a torch, and a change of clothes – with Gordon in charge, I’m expecting mud and water (and one or two hills).

Now, the most astute of you will have noticed the date of the next run is 8^th Dec. The even more astute will have worked out (wiv that maffs or a fancy kallender) that this is not the 1^st Thursday of the month. Well done you.

Basically –I’m the hare – and I can’t make the 1^st. So, my run, my rules J

Run will start at 7pm on Thursday 8^th Dec from the big car park next to the Market Square in Selkirk (i.e. not the square itself – the entrance to the car park is just down the hill towards Peebles from the main square). It’s the one with, you guessed it, the public toilets!.

Theme for the run is therefore Selkirk Santa Shambles. Bring your hat and best Father Xmas costume. Bonus points for fairly lights and beards (yours doesn’t count Kev – not grey enough).

Beers and food after – location TBC.

It will start from the public toilets in St. Boswells (nope, I don’t know where they are either – but St. Boswell’s isn’t that big a place and I suspect I can find ‘em) at 7pm on Thursday 6^th October.

Hares are Hash Drunk, with parental supervision from Railroad.

I guess this will be the first dark, or at least partially dark, run of the year, so bring a headlight/candle/flaming torch/illuminating personality. A change of clothes might be a good idea too. Wetness is a distinct possibility.

Will be in Eddleston, Dean Cottage. Hares are Maggie (Royal Flush) and Martin (Easy Life).

Directions (coming from the South) - Eddleston is about 4 miles North of Peebles on the A703. When in the village turn left immediately opposite the Horseshoe Inn into Old Manse Road. Cross the wee bridge and turn right up the driveway to Barony Castle Hotel. Just before the large iron gates that lead into the castle car park turn right and follow the track up behind the castle hotel. Go straight through the courtyard onto the dirt track. Dean Cottage is about 100 m directly in front of you.

Bring BBQ stuff, as that’s what we’ll be doing for afters.

A break from tradition for the next BAH3 run – we’re shifting, for one month only, to a Friday night. I know, the horror!.

The reason and plan is that the run will be from Coldingham – details below. BBQ + Beers + Camping afterwards. Bring food/tents/booze as required.

Run will start at 7pm on Friday 5^th August.

Hope everyone can make it , should be a lot of fun, and a bit different.

The hare is Andy ‘Deep Scrote’ Upton, and he says………

“Meeting point and start/finish for the Hash will be at the Coldingham Beach Carpark - in the right place for BBQ."

From Coldingham Village center go down High Street past the Spar and Scoutscroft, take a right signpost "The Beach", carpark at end of road on Right."

Venue

Ashkirk is an easy one to find – head out of Selkirk on the A7 towards Hawick. About 5 miles out of Selkirk, turn right into the village of Ashkirk – the pub is approx. 150m on the left.

As usual – approx. 45-60 mins of running/walking to whatever level you’re happy with, followed by a beer or two and food at the pub. All good.

A quick heads-up about the next (August) run… we’re shifting to a Friday night – the run will therefore be Friday 5^th August. The reason for this earth shattering change is that we’re running from Coldingham, and will eat/drink/camp after the run. Should be a great evening – fingers crossed for the weather.

Directions
Get yourself to Walkerburn on the Galashiels to Peebles road (A72). If you're coming from the Gala direction, in the middle of the village take the left turn that takes you down to, then across the Tweed. Turn Left at the T-junction after you cross the river. After approx 1.25miles (once you've got trees on both sides of the road), turn Right into the car park (which is just a forest road head).

I think it's unlikely that you'll finish clean, and with dry feet, so bring a change a clothes and footwear. Oh, it will be dark - bring a torch of some kind!.

On-Inn for beers and food TBC, but most likely the pub in Innerleithen as teh George Hotel in Walkerburn is closed.

As usual, the BAH3 runs cater for all running/walking abilities, and it certainly isn't a race.

Due to all that white fluffy stuff its going to be impossible to get to Wooplaw so instead meet in Stow outside the public toilets, 7pm, hope you can all still make it. Bring your sledges folks!

Directions
From the centre of Stow take the right hand road (assuming you're travelling from Gala towards Edinburgh) towards Lauder. After turning, go a short way then quite soon take the right turn (in front of the town hall type building) towards Galashiels (unmarked road). Follow this road for about 2.5 miles then turn left towards Wooplaw. Go past Hareshawhead Plantation and wind turbines. Shortly after that you will come to Wooplaw woods. Park in the car park on the left hand side marked Axehead Wood. If you go too far along this road you will come to a junction (marked left to Lauder), you have gone too far if you get here!

Post-run food and beers will be at the newly re-opened Springbank Inn in Stow.

The Hare is Toby 'Nae Knickers', and the venue is the Horse + Hounds at Bonchester Bridge - new stomping ground for us.

The pub has a Steak Night that day - £20 all in for meal + glass of wine. If you're interested in this option, can you let Toby know. Normal menu also available.

Remember your torch.

Hares are Tango Belter and Alpha Female, so we’re in safe hands!

Run No 55 is on Thursday 2nd September, Bowhill Estate, Nr Selkirk

Venue is the main car park in the Bowhill Estate, near Selkirk.

Directions

Get yourself on the Selkirk to Moffat road (A708?) leaving Selkirk. Head towards Moffat/St/ Mary's Loch for around 2 miles. Take the Left turn (probably signed Bowhill + Ettrick valley or summat like that) , and go immediately across the Generals Bridge. Just after the bridge, turn Right into the estate. Follow the estate road round to the left (when it forks, take the left), and through the tress towards the big house. Just as you approach the large ornamental gates, take the right fork (goes uphill). Car park is another 100m on the left.

There's even a proper pub, that's been properly organised to go to after - The Cross Keys in Ettrickbridge. Usually two real ales on, so bring yer drinking trousers.

As usual, everyone welcome - what better way to get out in the countryside in the glorious late Summer. Might need to think about bringing a torch and change of clothes and footwear - it's not that Summer-y.

Directions
Cardrona can be found on the A72 between Peebles and Innerleithen. From Innerleithen heading East towards Peebles, take exit on left signposted Cardrona (same turn off for Macdonald Hotel). Follow the road over the bridge into Cardrona, village store is on your right hand side.

The On Inn after the run will be the Glentress Hotel who will do soup and sannies for a fiver
